Are you Relevant?

HR is relevant .... But only if it is solving business problems. No one wants to talk about growing relationships and building connections unless the result is more productivity, lower medical claims, less absenteeism, less workplace violence, more reporting of sexual harassment issues early on, increased revenues, or lower cost. HR done right is an asset — done wrong it is, at worst, a liability, and at best, ignored. We, as HR professionals, must have the enterprise value impact or return on investment in mind when we propose change, headcount adds or resource consumption. Relationships and connections reduce turnover. You know your replacement cost.
